|REVIEW| 3. Christmas With Belif: Oil Control Moisturizer Fresh

Belif Oil Control Moisturizer Fresh review

ARE YOU SERIOUS?
Oh my God! We are already at the third product now? I seriously cannot BELIF this! It's been a week since I started this series and now we are almost at the end of it! Anyhow, the show must go on. For those of you who are feeling a little lost, this is a Christmas series which I'm doing for Belif. Special thanks to Tammy, our founder of The Butterfly Project Malaysia for making this happen! So what are the Belif products that I have reviewed or am going to review?

Belif Oil Control Moisturizer Fresh review
I found these four in the box when I unboxed the Belif Christmas Box!

DO THE BASICS
The products in this Belif Christmas box are all the basic products that we all should own. They are the:

1. Belif Cleansing Oil Fresh
3. Belif Oil Control Moisturizer Fresh

That is the sequence of which I will review them in. If you see an (Upcoming) next to it, it means the post is not live yet. So, be sure to stay tuned if you want to know more about each of the product! AND... DRUMROLL PLEASE
So this is the one that I am reviewing today. It is an oil-free moisturiser which targets people with oily skin and provide moisture to the skin without leaving the skin shiny and uncomfortable. When I saw the word "Oil Control" I know exactly where I want to use this on. My oily nose and forehead of course! They are both the oiliest parts of my skin and I've run out of ways to properly moisturise them without causing a scene. I really hope this is the one I need for my skin!

The pump comes with a cap.

A BREAKDOWN
But before I talk about my experience of the product, let's take a look at the ingredients.

(Skincarisma)

Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dipropylene Glycol, Glycerin, Pentaerythrityl Tetraethylhexanoate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sorbitol, Dimethicone, Triethylhexanoin, Rosa Canina Fruit Extract, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Extract, Mentha Rotundifolia Leaf Extract, Alchemilla Vulgaris Leaf Extract, Viola Tricolor Extract, Spiraea Ulmaria Flower Extract, Althaea Officinalis Root Extract, Rosa Damascena Flower Extract, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Nepeta Cataria Extract, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Leaf Extract, Baptisia Tinctoria Root Extract, Stellaria Media (Chickweed) Extract, Silica, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate, Xanthan Gum, Tromethamine, Trisodium EDTA, Fragrance, Limonene
Note: Bolded are the star ingredients in the product whereas underlined are those flagged as 3 & above under 'Safety index' by EWG. Safety index ranges from 1-9 and the lower the number means the less hazardous. Those with asterisks are more likely to cause acne than those without.

THAT'S A LOT!
Wow, those highlighted in blue are all skin-conditioning agents! That's, SERIOUSLY, a lot of them! Like the two Belif products I've reviewed previously (Belif Cleansing Oil Fresh and Belif Aqua Gel Oil), this does not contain any mineral oil, synthetic fragrance, synthetic dyes, synthetic preservatives or any animal-origin ingredients. You're safe to go if you're practising vegan skincare!

It comes with a pump and claims to contain 83% of skin conditioning agents in it.

THE GOOD ONES
As a moisturiser, having Glycerin, a powerful moisturising ingredient, is a must. Other than that, the main selling point of this Oil Control Moisturiser Fresh is the Rosa Canina Fruit Extract, which is more commonly known as Rosehip. Rosehip has long been known for having the ability to revive the skin and treat scars. This is because it contains a rich amount of Vitamin A and C. These vitamins are able to help repair the skin and increase skin's moisture level at the same time, giving the anti-ageing effect.

If you have read any review on translucent powders (like these two I did on W.Lab's Sebum Out Finish Powder and Althea's Petal Velvet Powder), you'd know about silica. How can a product call itself an oil control product without having silica in it? Silica is known for its ability to absorb oil and therefore helps keep the skin fresh and non-oily whenever you have this moisturiser on.

The back of the bottle.

THE BAD ONES
Cyclopentasiloxane has been added to as a solvent to contain the ingredient. It has been rated as a 3 (seriously, not a very high number) under safety index. Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Extract, also known as Blue Gum, might potentially be an irritant for those with sensitive skin. You might want to patch test before applying it to your whole face! Just look out for these underlined ingredients (including Fragrance and Limonene, both are to make the product smell better) if your skin isn't a fan of them. Otherwise, don't let them stop you from getting this gorgeous bottle of moisturiser!

Look at that! It's already sliding down my skin! This is equivalent to one pump.

NOT THE WHOLE FACE
Like I mentioned in the previous post, I don't use the Aqua Gel Oil all over my face. That's because I'm using this on the oilier part of my skin. Having the ability to absorb oil, I think it will best benefit my oily T-zone and keep the oil glands at bay. It has a texture similar to the Gel Oil but is slightly runnier, thinner and white in colour. When spread across my skin, it glides on very smoothly and gives a very watery feeling to the skin.

Look at the watery texture!

A NEW EXPERIENCE
Compared to the Aqua Gel Oil, the smell of this is way less noticeable. I have to go very close to be able to detect a very faint and pleasant smell. When applied on the skin, I could barely smell anything  and it fades super quickly when I test it and try to smell it on my hand so do not worry about the smell at all! It dries down to a smooth finish after the skin has absorbed it (within a few minutes) and I like how it doesn't feel sticky at all.

My hand instantly looks plumper and more hydrated!

ONLY AT NIGHT
So far, I've only been using this at night because I use a 2-in-1 moisturising sunscreen in the morning. I want to keep things light in the morning since the weather here in Malaysia is so hot. Each time, I would use half a pump (only for oily parts) and pat it on my nose, cheeks, chin and forehead. I've noticed that whenever I use this at night, my skin oils up more slowly the next day even if I don't put on any powder. That's something I didn't expect to gain from this moisturiser!

I WAS SURPRISED
According to Belif's website, this moisturiser can actually tighten enlarged pores and improve resilience, leaving the skin clean and smooth. I didn't believe it in the beginning, until I took a picture of my own skin. This is actually just right after applying the product and the effect is obvious. I haven't edited the second picture. Just look at how the pores have seemed to disappear! And this shows exactly why moisturising the skin is tremendously important if you want to maintain a youthful outlook!

ARE YOU A FAN YET?
If you're on a quest to search for a good moisturiser, your quest can end here. You've found it. If you're simply running out of moisturiser, look no further and get this one. The price? I'm just going to keep hypnotising myself that RM160 isn't too much for something that helps keep my pores hidden without the need of a foundation or concealer.
