belif cleansing oil fresh review

CHRISTMAS IS ALMOST HERE
Can't BELIF it's going to be Christmas so soon (see what I did there? HAHA)! I was just celebrating Halloween with my favourite TV Show: Stranger Things and now Christmas is just around the corner? This is too soon! Because after that, it is going to be the end of the year and I'm not ready for 2018 yet! Sigh, are you ready?

INGREDIENTS BEFORE THE TALK
Before we start discussing the goods and bads, let's take a look at the ingredients.

(Skincarisma)

Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, Triethylhexanoate, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, *Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Water, Tocopheryl Acetate, Saponaria Officials Leaf Extract, Acorus Calamus Root Extract, Sapindus Mukurossi Fruit Extract, Benincasa Cerifera Seed Extract, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Calendula Officials Flower Extract, Nepeta, Cataria Extract, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Leaf Extract, Baptisia Tinctoria Root Extract, Stelaria Media (Chickweed) Extract, FragranceGeranium Maculatum Oil, Citronellol, Limonene

Note: Bolded are the star ingredients in the product whereas underlined are those flagged as 3 & above under 'Safety index'. Safety index ranges from 1-9 and the lower the number means the less hazardous. Those with asterisks are more likely to cause acne than those without.

THE GOOD ONES
Saponaria Officials Leaf Extract is also known as Soapberry while Acorus Calamus Root Extract is also known as Sweet Flag. Both of these ingredients are able to help prevent future breakouts and keep the skin clear. So far my skin is doing okay with the cleansing oil. No new pimples have popped up after one week usage.

THE BAD ONES
However, for those of you with sensitive skin, you might have to take extra care while beginning to use the product. The Geranium Maculatum Oil in the cleansing oil can possibly irritate your skin. As always, patch test it on a small part of your skin before you proceed to wiping it all over to prevent any unwanted reaction. Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil is also labelled as being potentially VERY slightly comedogenic (potentially pore-blocking).

You can remove the cap (refer to first picture) and replace with the pump + stopper that comes with the cleansing oil.

ALWAYS DOUBLE CLEANSE
Hence, that's why I always use a second cleanser (currently using my favourite: Corine de Farme Micellar Cleansing Foam) whenever I oil-cleanse. It is important to make sure all oil is removed after we have cleansed our skin with a cleansing oil. This is to prevent the oil particles from clogging our pores, thereby giving us more skin issues rather than reducing it. It also defeats the purpose of cleansing your skin if you don't properly remove the cleansing agent!

OTHER THAN THE ABOVE...
One more important thing I noted about the ingredients is that there is no paraben, sulphate, alcohol mineral oil, synthetic fragrance, synthetic dyes, synthetic preservatives or any animal-origin ingredients. It makes me feel safe using the product and for those of you who are into vegan skincare, this one is a good option!

DITCHING MY OLD LOVE
I once talked about the Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil which I really loved. But that was before I tried out this one by Belif! For the Klairs one, it is rather hard to wash off because the oil seems to stick on to my skin and refuse to leave. I sometimes even feel that it clogs my pores a little, making it hard for them to breathe. Klairs Oil's cleaning ability also seems to reduce very slightly if I accidentally wash my hand with water before cleaning my face with the oil. Yet none of these applies to this Belif baby!

Testing it on my hand with all the makeup I usually use.

HELLO NEW LOVE
Not only the Belif Cleansing Oil Fresh is thinner and easier to wash off, I like how light it feels on my skin. My pores do not feel suffocated and water isn't my biggest cleansing enemy anymore. Although I'd still advise against wetting your hand with water before you start cleansing. Just make sure you've dried them before you start using the cleansing oil. For now, I've been using the Belif baby for one week already and it's just amazing!

It manages to remove all leaving some traces of the waterproof mascara, lip tint and browcara. That looks reasonable to me! Let's see how it performs later when I test it on my face.

FOR OILY AND COMBINATION
From what I read on Belif's website, this cleansing oil is suitable for oily to combination skin types, which explains why it is so light and comfortable on the skin! It feels just nice on my combination skin and hasn't caused me any issues (no breakout / irritation) so far. It aims to remove make-up (duh) and, wait, eliminates blackheads? Hmm. If you have watched any videos / read anywhere about gritting your skin to remove blackheads, I supposed this is what it meant it can do! I've never tried it on my skin because I don't get a lot of blackheads (I think I'm one of the lucky ones!) but if you're interested, you can google skin gritting to learn more about it! 😃

IT'S SIMPLE TO USE
For me, I only use one pump each time and it's more than sufficient for my whole face. Pumping it onto my palm, I then gently massage the oil onto my face without using any water. Since Belif mentioned in its instructions on the box, I would also concentrate on blackhead areas (mainly my cheeks) that need special care although I've not seen any removal of my blackheads this far. Maybe they are too deep beneath (my blackheads are flat on my skin LOL) it's difficult for them to be removed.

After I'm done massaging and am satisfied that my makeup is sufficiently removed, only then I rinse it with lukewarm water. Let's see how well it does!

Here is the process. You can see all my makeup (all those pimple marks and... my brow!!) was gone in the last picture. It forms a milky liquid that is easily washed off when mixed with water.

This is how clean the cotton looks after I went in and wiped it again with my Bioderma Sensibio H2O.

GO BUY IT
Yes it is pricey, almost RM1 per ML. But I like how it feels on my skin and it smells really good. Something between lemon and orange. It also doesn't sting my eyes when I use it to remove my mascara and eyeliner. Although, do take note that it might cloud your eyes for a brief moment if it accidentally gets into your eyes.
